February Family Night... "Reading Round-Up"

We had a great time tonight at our "Reading Round-Up" which was part of our February Family Fun Night. In my classroom I read "Bubba the Cowboy Prince" and the kids and parents really seemed to enjoy it. We also made a hand-print horse picture. Just look at these little Cowboys and Cowgirls working hard.

Something To Think About

I was sent this picture today of a drawing from a little girl in my class a few years ago. I looked at the little girls "My Family"drawing and noticed that I was in it .... the largest figure in the drawing. I was right next to the little girl .... the second largest in the picture. It made me stop and think about the impact we, as teachers, can be to our students. At the time of this picture I was important to this child. I made her life different. I know she had/ has wonderful parents because I work with her Mom (another teacher) and I know she wasn't a child who "needed" someone special in her life because her parents filled all her needs.... But somehow I did make a difference. Looking at this made such an impact on me. There are days, as teachers, that we feel like we just want to pull our hair out and that we are not getting through to our students.... The next time I feel that way, I'm going to look at this picture and remember that no matter how we feel, WE can make a difference. Have you made a difference today?
